Volkswagen Taigun Concept

The brand of Wolfsburg presents Hall of São Paulo Taigun SUV dubbed. No, this is not a typo: the Taigun-not mistaken-Tiguan is actually a brand new concept car, SUV morphology within a compact.

Outwardly, there is no doubt that this is a Volkswagen car. The DNA of the brand is present, perhaps too clearly, in the front, and a first look only short overhangs, roof bars illuminated with LEDs and the absence of handles on the rear doors (a la Alfa Giulietta) we indicate that this is a different car in the range.

And it is different for its own concept: SUV Taigun is only 3.85 m long, whose body is compressed to a size even lower than B crossover segment. In fact, its length is 28 cm lower than the Nissan Juke, reference model that category. Not surprisingly, the wheelbase remains in only 2.47 m, which does indicate that we have sought a compromise between agility and stability. The other external dimensions remain consistent: 1.72 m wide by 1.57 high.

The body has sufficient height above the ground and short enough overhangs to venture on dirt roads. The metallic plastic cover and protects the lower body when loose terrains circular. Instead, the 17 "wheels in size 205/50 and the front-wheel-drive system that incorporates, yes, system electronic stability control ESC-invite calmly take such trips.

Its capacity is commensurate with the size of the vehicle: the 280-liter boot can be expanded up to 987 liters when the rear seats fold it.
The XXVII International Auto de São Paulo will be open from 24 October to 4 November. If the Volkswagen Taigun can win favor with the public and the press, his arrival would not be surprised to medium term production. In this sense, the German mark and Taigun anticipates that if the series were to, it would in markets around the world, not just in South America as one might have imagined at first.

Relevance
Under the hood comes a surprise: Taigun Volkswagen debuts new TSI petrol engine of 1.0 liters and 110 hp. Continuing along the path created by the successful Ford EcoBoost-equipped 1.0 now also for the C-Max, the little three-cylinder direct injection gasoline presents and, of course, the appropriate turbocharger. The given torque is about right 175 Nm at just 1500 rpm.

Combining these figures with a gross vehicle weight really low (985 kg), the set is promising: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 9.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 186 km / h. Fuel consumption remains at just 4.7 liters per 100 km.
