2014 Alfa Romeo 4C

After two years in the form of concept car is unveiled in its final form Here it is.
Finally, after two years as a concept car, the Alfa Romeo 4C is revealed in its final form, as we will see in the dealership by the summer and will also mark the return of Alfa Romeo in the U.S.. As promised, this is an Alfa Romeo rear-wheel drive, which relies entirely on driving pleasure and boasts a power to weight ratio worthy of a 500-horsepower supercar. But let the facts. Compared to what we already knew since the debut of the concept car two years ago, there are new: understanding the carbon shell built by Dallara - the main architect of a weight of just 850 pounds - and a 2-seater layout that provides for the rear-wheel drive and the motor in the center-back, right about the latter there are some nice surprises: you already knew that would be the 4-cylinder turbo petrol 1750 already Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. But now comes the confirmation that it is an evolution with a new aluminum crankcase instead of cast iron and the suction and discharge redesigned. Power output is 240 horsepower, so only 5 more than Juliet, but it is already being tested a version with even more powerful 300 hp. As mentioned on the previous edition of this engine are confirmed the dual variable valve timing and technology "scavenging" to minimize the delay in the response of the turbo. It is coupled to the dual-clutch gearbox TCT dry, which is also already on the Giulietta. But even in this case it is a specific evolution for the 4C: management software adapted to the new car and Launch Control function for maximum inrush departing. The jackknife DNA, the 4C will be different: besides the already known features Dynamic, Normal and All Weather Race mode is introduced which automatically turns off the VDC stability control and ASR traction, calling into question while the Q2 electronic differential . One of the most amazing technical 4C, however, is that they have done without the power steering. That's right, for maximum steering precision and a sporty feeling, there is no power assistance. The steering is just a little 'heavy side, but the curves will certainly pay off. About of attitude, 4C take suspensive sophisticated schemes: double wishbones for the front and MacPherson at the rear, with tires differentiated between the two axles: 17 "front and 18" rear with possibility to climb, on request, respectively 18 and 19 inches. Unfortunately not yet been widespread performance and neither is the price. For the former, given a power to weight ratio less than 4 kg / hp, you might expect a speed of at least 250 hours and a shot 0-100 less than 5 seconds. For the price, however, the figure could be 50 thousand euro plausible.
