2013 Renault Clio RS

Heir to a long line of sport compacts, the new RS 200 EDC has many features in common with its progenitor
Here unveiled the long-awaited sporty version of the Clio. Heir to a long line of sport compacts, ranging from the Renault 5 Turbo to the Clio 16V and Williams through the latest RS 2.0, the new RS 200 EDC has many features in common with its progenitor: continues to be born in the factory in Dieppe, in Normandy, at the Department Renault Sport. Continues to have 200 horses under the hood, although these are now being paid no more than the 2 liter normally aspirated engine, but by a new 1.6 Turbo also delivers 240 Nm of torque at just 1750 rpm. In addition, the high cost of manual transmission is gone in favor of a double frizone six-speed EDC baptized.

The performance is absolute thickness: 0-100 in 6 ", 7 km from the firm in 27" 1 (thanks to launch control function) and a peak of 230 km per hour. As for the trim, Renault Sport has developed an innovative cushioning system: a second smaller inside the shock absorber main solution which according to the engineers guarantees outstanding performance both in terms of comfort and handling . Then there is also always the possibility to choose between Sport chassis or the more stringent Cup

Still, the front wheels rely on electronic differential to limit the skidding and in any case all the electronic management of the vehicle varies depending on the driving program chosen. In fact there is a button in the center of the tunnel, which is called RS Drive and is used to choose three different driving modes: Normal, Sport, Race. Depending on the program selected will change the response of the engine, the shifting speed, the steering assistance and the response threshold of ASR and ESP, up to the total exclusion of the latter.

But the most fun, which makes the Clio similar to a video game, are the functions RS Link, the multimedia system: a real telemetry to monitor all the parameters of the transmission and engine to time at their own pace lap and map with GPS circuits. But above all, the ability to activate the R-Sound Effects: through the audio system, the engine of the Clio sound, in the passenger compartment, such as a Nissan GT-R or a Alpine A110!
