2013 Honda CR-V


The CR-V is completely changed utterly unchanged from SUV asphalt philosophy. Honda aims to sell 3,500 units in Spain of the new CR-V in a full year which is equivalent to getting the leadership among midsize SUVs. The CR-V Fourth generation involves no formal or philosophical revolution than the model it replaces. It is slightly more habitable, has a larger trunk, their engines are cleaner and is lower but still competing in the same segment so far and try to keep the leadership among midsize SUV gasoline. The CR-V is a mid-size SUV (measured 4.57 meters long, 4 cm more than its predecessor) located halfway between generalist brands models like the Nissan X-Trail, Toyota RAV4, the Opel Antara, the Ford Kuga, Renault Koleos or the Volkswagen Tiguan and the premium brand, more specialized as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 or the Land Rover Freelander.

With a wheelbase of 2.63 cm and a lowered ride height, enhancing the car's center of gravity, which significantly affects the dynamic behavior. By reducing the height, the new CR-V changes the driving position and the height of the rear seats with a bench located in a lower position (3.8 cm) to maintain habitability.

Habitability, however, is not affected because the rear passengers have a remarkable range and an increased vertical clearance over the previous generation. In this section, the only thing we did not like was the passenger seat, not very wide and with relatively little legroom, as if it had prioritized at the expense of space available behind the front.

The boot capacity has won. Spend from 524 to 589 liters in 1669 to become once the rear seats folded down. The latter provision, has a load length of 1,570 meters. To fold the seats, Honda has developed a system to perform the operation in a single movement.

When actuating levers on the sides of the boot (there is one at each side for each of the two halves into which the seat is divided in proportion 60/40), the cushion and backrest rises automatically folds. To this end, the rear head restraints should be in its lowest position since otherwise face the high bench. Besides levers outlined, some shooters textile base seat enables the same operation from each of the rear doors but only in the part of that side of the seat.

Externally, the CR-V is a nice car. Lower than other similarly sized SUV, featuring the huge front grille with three chromed louvres that "get" visually in the headlights. The initial range of engines is the same as the current model but the brand has developed to achieve both mechanical reduce consumption and emissions. The petrol version of the two-liter VTEC mounts of the brand with the power carried 155 hp (previously 150). This engine will be available for the first time, with 4x2 transmission, which will lower the cost of access to the range.

The diesel engine is also an old acquaintance. This is the 150 hp 2.2 already mounted the current model but the changes in peripherals combined with the use of an electric steering system and Stop / Start (only with manual) has led to lower consumption and emissions.

Manual 4x4 version now consumes 5.6 liters while spends 6.6 with automatic transmission. In both cases declined more than 20 grams per km of CO2 which has allowed to fall to the manual versions tranche of 4.75% registration tax.

In making contact in Germany could drive automatic diesel version. The motor response is very similar to the current but no significant change in noise. The new model is quieter (the brand speaks of 3 decibels, which is much in a car) thanks to higher quality insulation and modifications made to the engine. The truth is that this engine generated in the previous CR-V a noticeable clatter sounded much cold and high-rate and now, the sound seems almost that of a gasoline.

The big news of the end will come, however, in the course of 2013, when Honda will launch a version of the CR-V diesel engine 1.6. This new block, which will be released before the end of the year in the Civic, has 120 hp and allow the SUV brand jump on land hitherto unknown to her, the diesel SUV of more modest power and two drive wheels that are carried most of the sales pie segment.
 
The downgrade in the center of gravity is not the only aspect that has improved the car's performance. The new CR-V features a reworked suspension with respect to their brothers-American and Japanese on sale for a few months and adapted to European tastes. It's a firmer suspension, more potholes filtering capacity and generates less roll when cornering.

The truth is that on the road, you notice that the car behaves like a tourist, with little inertia, a significant linear stability and a good ability to fit the contour of the terrain.

This increased stiffness of the suspension, accompanied by an increase in torsional and flexural rigidity of the chassis and the lowering of the center of gravity, makes this Cr-V in all the more asphalt. For the same reason, his few off-road capabilities have disappeared almost completely. And why we speak in our conditional touchdown not tread anything but asphalt.

The CR-V was already one of the SUV less adapted to track use by their bad angles characteristic wheel runs scarce and unprotected low.
